Chinese Torture: Riverdance beats Blair

The makers of Irish musical extravaganza Riverdance have signed a deal with the Chinese government giving their show exclusive rights to perform at all Chinese detention camps.

Speaking in Beijing at the launch of their new show, “The Dance on the River Kwai”, Riverdance’s executive producer told the press:

“We were thrilled with the offer of a captive audience and we’re certain that this show will be giving command performances all over China for years to come.”

A spokesman for the Chinese government told BIGfib:

“We hope that this show will subdue prisoners of conscience in a way that we could only dream of in the days of tazers and sleep deprivation.”

However, the Riverdance management face a potentially lengthy legal battle before any prisoners see the show.
Cherie Blair claims that the Chinese government promised her the camp franchise after her sell-out performance in July of her one woman show, “George and Tony’s Magical Mystery Tour”, which will be opening soon in North Korea, Syria and Iran.

As China slowly opens to Western influence, one official admitted that China may now be open to more extensive cultural exchange with the west.

Weng Chiang told BIGfib, "In the spirit of democracy, openness and international relations, we’re hoping to set up an exchange program with the US: They can send their political prisoners to us, and we’ll ship ours to Guantanamo Bay.”"
