Area Man Elated To Run Into Actor He Doesn't Respect
By Lee Camp
MOLALLA, OR Area carpet-maker Hal Newburgh, 43, was ecstatic Tuesday when he spotted Peter Gallagher who played Sandy Cohen on "The O.C." at a local gas station. Newburgh, who had never actually watched a full episode of "The O.C." stated that he got very nervous when he saw Gallagher buying a donut. Newburgh said, "I just kept thinking, 'Is it him? It's gotta be him. Could it really be him? That guy from that show is right here in Molalla?' You know, I watched 15 minutes of that show once. It was painful, and I felt Gallagher's portrayal of Sandy Cohen was stilted, stale, and shallow. But I still can't believe I actually SHOOK HANDS with the guy!"
Newburgh says he walked up to Gallagher and stated that he was a "ginormous" fan of his. Gallagher seemed flattered and gave Newburgh an autograph. Newburgh also said about the experience, "It was thrilling to be that close to greatness, even though he really is an awful actor. You know he did one of the voices on the animated show 'Robot Chicken' that lasted only two episodes? At least with that show he had the dignity to hide his face.
I'll never wash this hand."
