Russia may not ratify the Kyoto protocol.

Vladimir Putin announced yesterday that Russia might not ratify the Kyoto protocol.

The protocol intended to reduce CO2 emissions in a last ditch effort to stop global warming and the resulting death of all life on earth, has been on the verge of collapse ever since US president George Bush refused to ratify the protocol believing the profits of giant oil companies like Exxon to be more important.

Putin said that Russia would now almost certainly follow the US lead.

"The truth of the matter is..." He said in his opening speech, "That like the US, vast swaths of Russia are actually rather chilly... Global warming is as popular here as it is in the US."

"Russians today don't want to be driving around in little two seater go-karts like the Europeans, they want to be rolling along in huge gas guzzling automatic SUVs to the local McDonalds drive-in, even if it does mean that the planet ends up dead.

Not ratifying Kyoto, may be mass-suicide, but r
atifying Kyoto would be political suicide." he concluded.
