Pensioners who traded TV for child demand restitution of TV

A pensioner and his wife, being questioned by detectives last night for buying an Albanian boy whose father had traded him for a colour TV set, were last night demanding that their television be returned to them immediately.

Angelo Bordello, 69, and his wife, Iola Rodeo, 57, were arrested on Saturday in the hillside town of Sersale, in the southern region of Calabria, Italy.
Detectives had to search the town's medieval houses to find Rodeo, who fled with the child, who is now six, when police knocked on her door.
Police have evidence that the couple gave their TV set three years ago in exchange for the child, then three, whom they called Tomas.

The couple, who bought him from a trafficking gang in Durazzo, have admitted the charges. "It's true we did it... now we just want justice..." They told reporters outside the court. "They've taken Tomas away from us and the evenings are so boring, we just want our TV set back. It's only fair."
