France Bans Journalists From Reporting Bad News By Alan Lord
Paris - The French Constitutional Council has approved a law that criminalizes the filming or broadcasting of bad news by professional journalists.
The law could lead to the imprisonment of any journalist reporting on such bad news items as riots in the suburbs, the disappearance of garden gnomes from French backyards, or most upsetting of all for the French - the abandonment of thousands of house pets every summer when people set off on their holidays.
Any good news concerning the Airbus or geriatric French pop singers whose name rhymes with "holiday" would be welcome. And any news item showing happy peasants sipping wine is fine. Or hunting for truffles with pigs - definitely safe there.
