Bush-Blair now in favour of UN involvement in Iraq
President George Bush's top advisers are now said to be in favour of increased UN involvement in Iraq. "I think we've seen a big change since the UN headquarters was bombed." Jack Straw, UK foreign secretary told BIGfib. "Before, I think we in the coalition just imagined that the UN would be a nuisance, lots of French diplomats running around, taking embarrassing photos of soldiers shooting Iraqi citizens, that kind of stuff".
"But the bombing of the UN headquarters has made us realise that the Iraqis aren't making any distinctions and that UN forces will be seen just as much as targets for shootings and bomb attacks as our own troops." "From there it's simple statistical logic to realise that the more French and German UN targets we can get out there, the less losses our own boys are going to suffer."
