Phone driving ban only the "tip of the iceberg"
A ban on the use of mobile phones whilst driving to be implemented in the UK from the 1st of December is only the "tip of the iceberg" the UK Secretary of State for Transport Alistair Darling MP admitted yesterday.
The studies which the government commissioned last year into the causes of road traffic accidents also identified unwrapping sweets, hunting for cd's under the seat, drinking from two-litre coke bottles, rolling cigarettes, arguing with spouses and receiving oral sex as other major causes of traffic accidents.
If the telephone ban improves the accident statistics the government will go on to legislate "as far as is possible" against these other causes.
"Admittedly some of it is going to be difficult in terms of legal definitions." Darling told BIGfib. "What constitutes an argument, or what constitutes oral sex are infamously difficult to define in law."
