West Virginia police claim possible gun connection in shootings
Charleston West Virginia - Detectives investigating three shooting deaths in West Virginia believe they are closing in on the killer and a composite picture of their prime suspect is being compiled.
Police are also looking to see if legal arms trading may provide a connection between the three apparently random killings authorities said Wednesday.
"We're looking at arms connections." County sheriff Dave Tucker told BIGfib's Lolo Laroche.
"Individuals who we can't currently name say that legal hand guns and rifles may have been involved in these shootings so we'll be looking into the how and why of that."
Federal spokesman however repeated the official line that no link had been established between the legal possession of over 200 million hand guns and any of the 16 thousand murders committed in the country last year.
"I think it's more to do with demographics." John Lott spokesman for the NRA (National Rifle association) told BIGfib. "The murder rate in the US is seven times higher than the world average, and you know when you have that kind of demographic, well you're gonna be seeing a lot of murders. That's why people be needing to protect themselves."
