Turkey Stockpiling Rubber Chickens
By Alan Lord & Lolo Laroche

Ankara - Increasingly concerned with the spread of H5N1 infections across the country, Turkey has stepped up an awareness campaign to combat the bird flu outbreak.
This includes handing out free rubber chickens to children in small villages, in order to replace favourite pets often snuggled up to at bedtime. It is also hoped kids will play the traditional game of “Turkey-Chicken” with the new harmless rubber chickens, instead of running around with the culled diseased poultry.
In the amusing Turkey-Chicken game - a national favourite - Turkish children grab two birds by the wing before running through town shouting “Are you too chicken to touch the Turkey?”
