Mayor Of New Orleans Announces Payoffs
By Alan Lord

ABC News - New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin announced the city is paying off as many as 300,000 citizens, or about half the city, to stay away because of the damage done to New Orleans' finances by Hurricane Katrina.

“We don’t need all these poor people coming back all over again,” declared a stressed-out Nagin, “we need to build a NEW New Orleans, where tourists from all over the world can indulge in a quality French Quarter experience, without the risk of bumping into poorly clad homeless people.”

Plans for reconstruction apparently involve building Disneyworld-like decors set to themes like “Honky Tonk”, “Catfish Hut”, and “Cat House”. Fake store fronts will feature automatons on porches dressed as old black men wailing the blues, with MP3 jukeboxes in their throats playing scratchy 30’s Mississippi Delta recordings.
