Iran Linked To Unfavourable Blair Polls
By Alan Lord

England - British Prime Minister Tony Blair says evidence indicates an Iranian link to the drop of his popularity in opinion polls across Britain, although Downing Street does not have definite proof yet.

"We cannot be sure," Blair told a news conference Thursday, but "there seem to be links to both Iranian elements and Hezbollah, links that could account for the sudden, inexplicable drop in my overall popularity."

The Downing Street official said on Wednesday that "elements of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard" appeared to be involved in smuggling explosive accusations and public opinion control mechanisms into Fleet Street.

"What is clear is that new devices have been used, not just against me but also against my estimable friend President Bush," Blair told the news conference.
Tehran has denied the accusations, claiming that the British Prime Minister is solely responsible his sorry predicament.”
