Iraqis "Ungrateful" - Hoon

Echoing Britain's hugely successful strategy in Northern Ireland, the UK defence secretary, Geoff Hoon, said yesterday that thousands more troops may be required in Iraq after six British soldiers were killed and another eight injured in two attacks.
Mr Hoon also said an urgent review was under way into the safety of British forces following the attacks.
"We have significant forces available should it be necessary," Mr Hoon told BBC Radio 4's Today Programme, noting that no decision would be made until the review was concluded.
His announcement came as an Iraqi police officer said the six dead British soldiers had been attacked by local people in retaliation for civilian deaths at the hands of British troops.
"They (the Iraqis) are being extremely ungrateful." Hoon said. "We've gone in, delivered the Iraqi people and Iraqi oil from a dastardly dictator, and now, just because we want to hang around a bit and enforce law and order they're killing our boys..."
"But one thing's clear... the more they protest about our presence, the more we will be present..."
"If they want us to leave then they'll have to stop complaining about us being there."
