American Military Claims Italian Reporter Failed to Heed Warning Shot To Shoulder, Head

By Lee Camp

IRAQ – Much is being made of the shooting of Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena, who was held hostage for a month in Iraq and finally released this week.

On her journey to the airport to leave Iraq, American soldiers fired on her car, hitting her in the shoulder and killing one of her security guards, Nicola Calipari.
The American military's first response when asked about the events was that Sgrena was extremely ungrateful for the goodbye bullets given to her by the United States military.

The statement released by the military said, "Yes, they did deliver the bullets into her shoulder and her guard's head, but they were only for safe keeping. Where do you suggest we put goodbye bullets??"

After further criticism, the U.S. changed it story yesterday and now says that the Italian journalist and her car failed to heed the warning shots fired into her and those with her.

A new release by the military states states, "The vehicle Sgrena was in approached a guarded checkpoint."
" In order to warn them to stop, we fired warning shots into Sgrena's shoulder and into Calipari's head, among other places."
"When they failed to heed those forty-two warning shots, we had no choice but to fire into the engine block of the car, at which point the car stopped and everything went as planned. Yes, it's sad that a perfectly good vehicle got destroyed, but that's one of the risks of being in Iraq."

One American soldier said on the basis of anonymity that they're all trying to see the bright side of this situation.
"Attempting to kill this reporter is the first thing that the American military and the insurgents have agreed upon," he said.
“It's good that finally the U.S. and the insurgents are finding some common ground on which to base future peace.”
