Dossier not 'sexed up' say MPs
Alistair Campbell, the government's communications director, has been provisionally cleared of the BBC's charge of "sexing up" British intelligence in the run-up to the Iraq war, the foreign affairs select committee agreed yesterday.
The committee came to its view, however, on the basis of the evidence presented to the committee, and will complain it was given insufficient access to the photos and videos contained in the original dossier.
It cleared him of the main charge that he had "sexed up" the key dossier on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction published last September, by covering the front and back covers with nude blonds and inserting sado-masochist photos throughout.
However BBC executives insist that the dossier was indeed "sexed up".
"Most of the photos and videos contained in the original dossier have been censored as unsuitable viewing for the commons committee." Andrew Gilligan, the defence reporter for the BBC's Today programme told BIGfib.
"And Im not surprised... I saw the original dossier, and I can tell you that it was very sexy indeed. I would go as far as to say that it was actually quite sticky.
