Washington - In a determined effort to show that the Bush Doctrine of ending tyranny and spreading liberty and democracy throughout the world will be a consistent one, President Bush today called on Burma’s ruling military junta to release immediately opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who is still under house arrest.

“Let those who oppose freedom throughout the world be warned”, he said grimly, “that America will not parse its self-interests according to its principles.”

Asked if Burma’s newly-found rich offshore deposits of oil and gas had anything to do with the U.S sudden reversal of policy, the President smirked replying, “America has always been the staunch friend of anyone willing to deplete the natural resources of their country and hand over the oil… Whether they be democratic or not.”
