Israeli Forces May Withdraw From Four West Bank Cities
By Lolo Laroche

Israeli forces may make a heroic gesture and pull out from the West Bank cities of Ramallah, Tulkarem, Qalqilya and Jericho as soon as Wednesday, the Israeli Israeli Defense Minister has told BIGfib.
Minister Shaul Mofaz stopped short of confirming the report, however after a meeting Saturday night with Palestinian security chief Mohammad Dahlan, he told Israeli radio on Sunday, "It may be a matter of days."

"We haven't concluded yet which towns or when," Mofaz said. "It may be possible that in some of the Palestinian towns, the handing over of responsibility will happen in the coming days. We are due to meet again to finalize the issues."

In other, far less headline-worthy news, the Israeli government has quietly seized thousands of acres of Palestinian-owned land in and around east Jerusalem. The land was owned by Arabs separated from farms and orchards by the israeli constructed "security barrier".
Most of the hundreds of Palestinian families whose land has been confiscated without compensation have not been formally notified that their property has been transferred to the Israeli state. But plans have already been drawn up to expand Jewish settlements on to the expropriated territory.
