Coke Doesn't Make You Put On Weight Says AMBM
By Lolo Laroche
Dr. Richard Adamson, the vice president of scientific and technical affairs for the American Beverage Association, a trade group representing manufacturers of sugary drinks, said in an interview Wednesday that there was no proof that people gained weight because they consumed sodas.
Dr. Adamson was objecting to assertions in new Government guidelines that studies indicated that soda beverages (which typically contain the equivalent of 14 teaspoons of sugar per 330 ml can) made people gain weight.
"Everyone is saying that Coke makes you put on weight," he told BIGfib. "But I know a number of people who say they consume a lot of Coke and they're like, really thin, Adamson continued.
"I googled Coke and came up with a number of references suggested that regular Coke users actually lose weight," he added.
"The link between sugar and obesity simply isn't proven."
In other news, the US Nuclear Manufacturers Association claimed yesterday that radiation may not kill, The Oil Producers Association claimed that burning fossil fuels may not cause global warming, the Margarine Manufacturers Association claimed that butter may be the devils spunk, and George W. Bush claimed that invading sovereign countries and torturing their citizens may not make people hate America.
