Bush says his government is a living Reagan memorial

In memory of the late Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush yesterday promised that his government would be a living Reagan memorial.
“This nation will forever remain indebted to Ronald Reagan and as a sign of the Republican party’s debt to one of the greatest Presidents America has ever had, we have decided to emulate Reagan economic policy and leave a debt that truly no one will ever be able to forget.
Due mainly to massive arms spending and huge tax breaks for the wealthy, US government debt increased under President Reagan from 930 billion in 1980 to 2.6 trillion dollars in 1988, the biggest ever debt in American history, a debt entirely paid off by the Clinton administration.
President Bush told CNN, “Anything Dutch could do George can do better… you just watch those dollars go…”
Asked whether such a large deficit could be harmful for the economy the President said there was no need for concern. “Kerry will pay the check for me, just like Bill paid for Ronny… and then I expect everyone will just forget it ever happened.”
