Welsh Windows never crashes.
Microsoft yesterday admitted that the rumour circulating on bulletin boards: that the companys Welsh version of Windows, never crashes, is true.
Microsoft Welsh Windows, or Bachesmwyth, Ffenstre (Literally Micro-Soft Windows) as it is known in Wales has become a hot topic on UK bulletin boards ever since computer geeks installing the software noticed that unlike other versions of Windows it simply never crashes.
Cardiff based Ffenestre Technologies was even beta-testing an add-on for Welsh Windows to enable English speaking users to use large parts of the operating system without having to learn Welsh.
Bate Gill of Bachesmwyth (Microsoft) Wales told BIGfibs Lolo Laroche just why Welsh Windows is so much better.
The differences actually come down to linguistic differences between the Welsh language and English...
Windows is actually full of junk code
This code makes Windows crash regularly and forces users to upgrade at every new release
Its an important revenue stream for Microsoft worldwide. The problem is that the Welsh language contains no word for a computer crash, and no word for re-boot.
We played around with re-esguid (Literally re-shoe in Welsh) but the test users just ended up laughing too much to be able to position the cursor over the re-boot button, so in the end we just took the decision to leave the junk-code out for a few hundred years until the Welsh Language has evolved to contain words for system-crash and re-boot.
The unexpected result is that Welsh-Windows is proving to be Microsofts best selling product this year second only to the companys Welsh language CD-rom.
