Canada looks to rock and roll phase of re-branding operation.
Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien today called an extraordinary meeting with Sheila Copps Minister of Canadian Heritage and Sharon Carstairs the Senate leader to discuss phase three of the controversial "Re-branding Canada" operation.
The minutes of the meeting, leaked exclusively to BIGfib reporter Lolo Laroche give an insight into the thorough re-branding envisaged by the government.
According to the minutes, Jean Chretien thanked the current cabinet for it's success in putting through stages one and two of the rebranding operation, codenamed "Sex, drugs and rock and roll." "The image of lumberjacks and maple syrup is already way back when man." he said. "The new proposed laws authorising gay marriages are a great start for phase one." Chretien told ministers. They show Canada has thrown off it's hang-ups about sex.
"New laws authorising Marijuana will give phase two serious momentum. Chretien continued. People will start picturing a Marijuana leaf when they think of Canada instead of the old Maple leaf
Chretien then started a debate about the third phase of the operation.
Lets get 'Rock and Roll' up and running." He told delegates.
Ms Copps proposed creation of a ministry for culture to get the ball rolling. "I don't think this is something the existing agri-culture ministry will be able to deal with." she told the PM.
Sharon Carstairs, leader of the Senate asked around the room for some skins and commented that the idea of a culture ministry was "Cool and Groovy."
The committee went on to name Canadian rock star Bryan Adams as the government choice to head up the new ministry.
We asked Lolo to contact Mr Adams yesterday. He made the following statement.
"Look, I think it could happen. I've studied the proposals Inside Out, and Anyway I Look at It, I Can't Stop This Thing We Started. But When Things Don't Work Out, Please Forgive Me."
