Bush says Saddam must Stand Trial

President Bush this week confirmed that his administration is making plans for the transfer of Saddam Hussein to the new Iraqi government “in a timely and secure way.”
“We’re working to make sure that there is sufficient security,” he told reporters. “We want to be sure that he will actually face trial.”
“This man is responsible for the degrading and raping and torturing and killing of innocent Iraqi citizens,” President Bush continued.
Answering questions from Journalists the President stated, “Most of these horrendous acts were done by soldiers in the Iraqi army, it’s true, but Saddam was the head of that army and as such he has to be seen as responsible for their actions, all of them.”
“He should be judged for the killing and the torturing and then he should be put to death.”
“In just the same way, if our troops went around torturing or raping or killing women and children, I as president… I’m sorry, I mean, someone else, somewhere, would have to be held responsible for those actions too.”
