Disney works with Whitehouse to define new freedom Act

Disney Corp was yesterday said to be working with the White House on the text of a new Freedom of Expression bill.
The bill is intended to prevent embarrassing private censorship of the kind that Disney corp itself initiated last week when it refused to distribute the new Michael Moore film, Fahrenheit 9/11.

The film which is said to be highly critical of the Bush adminstration and particularly its links with the Bin-Laden family, was suspended by Disney Corp who themselves funded the production of the film, only days before it was due to be launched, apparently due to freedom of expression worries.

“Clearly this kind of private censorship is unacceptable…” M. Mouse, president of Disney Corp told BIGfib. “It’s completely unfair for the responsibility for this kind of thing to be placed on private corporations. That’s why we need a new bill which outlaws any kind of criticism of the Bush administration at a federal level.”
The Bill, dubbed the Mickey-Mouse Freedom of Expression Bill, should be introduced before the next Presidential elections.
