US turns to Iraqi officers; US troops just not brutal enough
The US last week dispatched a 900-man Iraqi battalion headed up by Gen. Jasim Muhammad Saleh, the former head of the Iraqi Army 38th Infantry Division into the embattled city of Falluja.
The move is seen as an important shift in tactics.
The top American commander in the Middle East Gen John P. Abizaid told BIGfib, "Weve basically run out of options here. Weve tried everything to make these people hate us: rape, electrodes, dog training, but there are still people in Iraq who support the coalition forces.
Our boys have just run out of new things to try on these people, theyre just not deep down brutal enough, so were hoping that using Generals who worked under Saddam, people who devoted their whole lives to oppressing and torturing people, well were hoping that they can bring some new ideas, some new inspiration in our attempts to inflict suffering on the Iraqi people and achieve the ultimate aim of universal hatred."
