Cilla Black to host Iranian Blind Date
Following the success of Naked TV’s Islamic launch last week (see below) Iran national TV yesterday announced the pilot of the countries first ever “Blind Date” program.
 Iranian Blind date will exactly copy the successful format of existing Blind Date programs worldwide where a suitor questions three women hidden behind a screen and from their answers chooses the one woman he will date.
Commenting the pilot, Iranian TV producer Al-Hayid told BIGfib “Blind Date is going to be a big hit in Iran. We’re very proud to bring modern Western concepts to Iran and we’re especially happy to have a real westerner hosting the program, your English Cilla Black.”
Due to the country’s strict Islamic code the format of the program has been slightly modified.
“We changed it as little as possible.” Al-Hayid told BIGfib. “You don’t play too much with such a successful format.”
On Iranian Blind-Date the man’s parents question the potential date whilst the suitor himself stays at home.
Also, unlike Western versions of Blind Date where the audience can see the three female contestants, in the Iranian edition they remain hidden beneath their Hijab, not only throughout the entire program but during the actual date, and, if the date is successful, during the couple’s entire married life.
