Non-Us citizens should be able to provide billion dollar campaign fund say Democrats.
Democrat candidates yesterday criticized the US law prohibiting non-US citizens from giving money to their campaign fund.
“Who sits in the Whitehouse is an issue for the whole of the free world.” John Kerry told Senators. “It affects the world economy, and US military decisions change the lives of people throughout the world. Citizens of the world should therefore be able to contribute to our Campaign fund.” Kerry’s comments come on the heels of a report by the World Democracy Institute in Stockholm which calculated that over 80% of the World population of 6,314,000,000 (6 trillion) would happily give $10 US each to see George W Bush defeated at the next US election. Such a donation, if legal, would provide the Democratic party with a Campaign fund of over $50 billion dollars (50,000,000,000). “It’s just not fair.” Kerry told CNN. “Fifty billion dollars would be enough to pay for ads 24/24 on all major US channels every day between now and the elections. That would give us a fair run at the presidency as it’s almost as much as the oil companies are giving Bush.”
