France exactly 24 years behind Britain announces Robien

Gilles de Robien, the French minister for Equipment, Transports, Housing, Tourism and even The Sea yesterday announced that France was exactly 24 years behind the United Kingdom.

“Ever since people realized that we were following to the letter Margaret Thatcher’s political agenda there has been a sense of deja-vu within the country which has been worrying people.”
The sense of deja-vu as he calls it came to a head this week when Mr Robien announced measures to emulate Margaret Thatcher’s failed policy of selling off to private individuals the countries stock of social housing, something the UK government introduced in 1980.

“People have been asking for clarification on this issue, so I can today confirm that France is exactly 24 years behind the UK.
Thus we will be selling council houses this year, fighting almost every union in the country with mounted police and army units next year, and unemployment should have tripled by 2006.
The first ever regular Gay TV show on a national channel will be called “Sorti sur Mardi” and will be introduced on ARTE in 2008, exactly 24 years after Channel 4’s ground breaking Out on Tuesday program.
We’re looking for someone to have a war with in 2006 (24 years after the 1982 Falklands war) but it seems it may not be possible to fight Argentina, we’ll have to wait and see who’s available.”
