Saddam offers to pay on the spot fine
Saddam Hussein officially offered to pay an on the spot fine for his past misdemeanors.
Brandishing 750,000 dollars as he climbed from his underground weapons complex, the ex-leader said “Sure, I’ve made mistakes, I’ve crossed some white lines, I’ve veered over borders, I’ve failed to stop when told to, but deep down I’m no worse than anyone else… I’m perfectly happy to pay for my mistakes and an on the spot fine would seem to be the easiest way for all concerned to avoid a lot of nastiness”
