Hundreds of thousands of people filled the streets of London yesterday to welcome George Bush Junior on the first state visit of an American president to London.
Chants and songs filled the air creating a marvelous carnival atmosphere as thousands lined the streets hoping to catch of glimpse of a most-loved president and shout words of welcome to him.
From early morning streams of buses have flooded into the capital carrying groups as diverse as the "Stop The War" coalition, CND, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, War veterans and thousands of individuals who just couldn't stay at home on such a special day.
Rarely has a US president managed to unite such a diverse group.
BIGfib was in the streets today to find out just why the whole planet is in love with this man.
Roger Greenway of Friends of the Earth told BIGfib : "This man is the planet's greatest ally... Every decision he takes has ecology and the environment as its goal... I'm here to tell George that we love him, and to thank all Americans for giving us this great man."
Julia Seath of Whitstable CND agrees. "We've been fighting for years to reduce the nuclear threat and to create a more stable, safe world for our children... We don't get to vote for US presidents but George has done more for world peace than anyone we could ever have elected. I think Americans can be so proud of their leader."
Finally we spoke the David Peacenik of the Stop The War Coalition.
"I'm in tears and it's joy." He told us. "For centuries the world has been building up to this moment... A moment where then human race moves on from corporate greed and into a new era of peace and enlightenment. George Bush's policies whether they be in the middle east or at home are a new level of enlightenment for mankind. Even from the most powerful nation on earth, it's more than we could ever have dreamed of...
