Burrel announces loving tribute to Diana
Former royal butler Paul Burrell today denied betraying Diana, Princess of Wales, insisting his controversial new book was 'a loving tribute'.
Mr Burrell defended himself in his first interview since a statement issued on Friday by Princes William and Harry accused him of a "cold and overt betrayal" of their mother.
As up to 135,000 copies of the book were appearing on shelves around the country, Mr Burrell said it was not damaging to the royal family but was in the "national interest".
He also claimed that he had been slightly in love with the princess and that he "would have done anything for her."
Accused of making millions in book revenues at the expense of the her posthumous image and the suffering this causes to her sons, he announced today, exclusively to BIGfib that he would prove the critics wrong.
"I loved the princess, and I love those little princes", he told BIGfib. "I have no desire to make any money out of her saddening death, and to prove my honesty I have today handed intellectual property and copy rights on the book, over to the Princess of Wales charitable foundation."
"This is her story and the revenue belongs to her. This is the way she would have wanted it. Finally the world will see just what a lovely bloke I am."
